WKAR, the PBS affiliate for Michigan State University and the mid-Michigan region, is seeking a highly motivated, well-organized and outgoing individual to serve as Operations Coordinator. Responsibilities include coordination of all television productions, both in-studio and on-location, project management, and facilitation of other station events including contract work.  The person will supervise professional staff, as well as hire and train student staff for station activities, and interface with contract clients on logistics, quotes, scheduling and billing.  Contribution to the overall production output of the station, based upon individual skills and experience, is expected.  This person will work closely with station management, other department heads, and support units.

This position requires experience in commercial and/or public broadcasting that demonstrates professionalism, curiosity, and diverse interests; demonstrated ability to produce high quality media content; strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills; ability to work on multiple tasks, on deadline and under pressure;  and self-motivation with experience turning ideas into action. Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communication, or related field is required. This position will supervise and provide direction to departmental support staff; therefore, a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is required.
