Nebraska / MSU Game Recap | Current Sports | WKAR

WKAR's Al Martin wraps-up MSU's Big Ten opening win over Nebraska at Spartan Stadium. The Spartans topped the Cornhuskers, 27 to 22.  Following MSU's win to open the Big Ten season, the Spartans moved up to No. 8 in both The Associated Press Poll and Amway Coaches Poll. The No. 8/8 Spartans (4-1, 1-0) will now hit the road to take on Purdue (3-3, 1-1) Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Destruction from tailgating at Michigan game called ‘worst ever’

An influx of tailgaters for the Michigan game meant some MSU trees were 'pruned' or otherwise damaged. The trees are important not only for their beauty, but also to classrooms and researchers.

Every home football Saturday here in East Lansing, thousands of people flock to the Michigan State campus to take part in a sacred ritual:  tailgating.  But the pastime takes a toll. After the celebrating, landscaping personnel at MSU repair damage to grass and trees.

Some of those personnel are calling last Saturday’s damage the worst they’ve seen.

CSTV Week 6 HS Football - Lansing Sexton vs. Holt

Sexton and Holt were both undefeated in the CAAC Blue leading up to this 'Battle Royale' on October 4th. But the Big Red proved to be the better team, cruising over the Rams, 48 to 7.

MSU offense struggles to get going against South Florida

The season is still young, but so far, the Spartan defense is outperforming its offense when it comes to putting points on the scoreboard.

The Michigan State University Spartans clinched a 21 to 6 victory over the University of South Florida in East Lansing Saturday.  The MSU offense scored only one drive in the game; the rest of the scoring was handled by the defensive squad.  Mark Bashore talks with Current Sports host Al Martin about the game, which saw three different MSU quarterbacks turn in lackluster performances.
