The woman who designed Michigan State University’s Broad Art Museum has died. Dame Zaha Hadid had been hospitalized for bronchitis in Miami this week; she suffered a heart attack that claimed her life this morning.

She was 65.

Her angular design has been controversial, winning the praise of admirers while also being scorned by others who feel it doesn’t fit in with the university’s surroundings.

Hadid’s projects around the world have included the London Aquatics Center for the 2012 Olympics and the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
