WKAR-TV's annual June support campaign will take place June 1-17, with new programming on all three stations -- WKAR-TV, WKAR Create and WKAR World. In addition, program breaks will include segments recorded on location throughout the community.
Among the new offerings are "Les Miserables In Concert" star Alfie Boe, performing his own show of Broadway show stoppers at Royal Albert Hall; "Love Never Dies," the sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera," and "The British Beat," which follows the music and stories of popular bands from the 1960s "British Invasion." New health-related shows include "The Blood Sugar Solution" and "Ageless Energy" with fitness guru Kathy Smith.
Look for some familiar sights during the breaks, as WKAR will include segments in each program recorded on location at such area spots as Old Town, the Lansing Library, Consumers Energy in Jackson, Patriarche Park, East Lansing Hannah Community Center, the Lansing Armory and many MSU locations.
The annual membership campaign marks the final fundraising event for WKAR-TV in the fiscal year and is essential to helping the public television station make its goals for the year. WKAR-TV is funded in large part by viewers with additional support coming from area businesses, Michigan State University and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
