Unbeaten Michigan State hopes to keep run going

By AP

ANN ARBOR, MI – Michigan State has moved up four spots to No. 13 in The Associated Press poll following a 34-17 victory at Michigan.

The Spartans beat the Wolverines on Saturday for a third straight season and improved to 6-0 for the first time since 1999. Of course, that season, they lost their next two games to Purdue and Wisconsin by a combined 92-38.

The loss was the first of the season for then-No. 18 Michigan and knocked the Wolverines out of the Top 25.

Michigan State will try to avoid repeating that history when it hosts Illinois next weekend. The Spartans last started 7-0 in 1966, when they won their first nine games before famously tying Notre Dame 10-10.
