National Tea Party activists held a series of rallies in Michigan on Friday.

About 500 people braved the chill morning air in Jackson to listen to speeches and
patriotic songs.

Tea Party Express chairwoman Amy Kramer urged the Jackson crowd to vote for
conservative candidates, especially for Congress.

"You know, we've worked tirelessly to change these people's minds in Washington," she said. "We haven't been able to do so. So on Tuesday we're going to change their faces."

The Tea Party Express was scheduled to hold rallies Friday afternoon in Waterford
Township and Friday evening at 8pm in Monroe.

The tea party vote could be critical in several close congressional and state
legislative races in Michigan next week.
