With the election one week away, Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder is meeting with farmers while Democrat Virg Bernero is trying to help more homeowners facing foreclosure.

Snyder spoke Monday in front of a barn full of dairy cows at Hank Choate's farm in Jackson County's Liberty Township.

He told about 25 listeners he wants to spur jobs by creating mentorships around Michigan.

Bernero met with Detroit homeowners who say they're unhappy with lenders who failed to take the proper stops before threatening foreclosure.

Federal banking regulators are checking if mortgage companies cut corners on their own procedures when they moved to foreclose on homes.
