Sharks strive to avoid letting Red Wings make mark

By AP

DETROIT – Nicklas Lidstrom says the Detroit Red Wings are looking at their deficit to the San Jose Sharks as a chance to do something special.

The 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs and the 1975 New York Islanders are the only teams in NHL history to win a series after trailing 0-3.

Lidstrom said Wednesday that it would be "a great feeling" to become the third team to do it. He quickly added that the Red Wings are focused only on Game 4 on Thursday night.

Top-seeded San Jose has won six straight games and pushed Detroit to the brink of elimination in their Western Conference semifinal. The Sharks have won each game by a score of 4-3, with Tuesday's game going into overtime.
