Severe Storms Possible This Afternoon

Severe Storm Outlook for April 10, 2017.

Stay weather aware for possible severe storms this afternoon, including heavy rain, hail and high winds.

Updated: April 10 at 1:30 p.m.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service forecasted possible severe storms on Monday afternoon for the greater Lansing area. The NWS Grand Rapids office warned a round of storms could affect the entire area between 4:00 p.m. and midnight.  The storms will be capable of damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain. An isolated tornado is also possible. No hazardous weather is expected tomorrow-Sunday.

Meanwhile flood warnings continues two rivers in Ingham County.

The Flood Warning for the Sycamore River in Holt is in effect until Monday afternoon. The Flood Warning for the Grand River in Lansing until Monday night. The Flood Warning along the Red Cedar River in East Lansing is in effect until Tuesday afternoon.

Here is the forecast:

MONDAY: Scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Strong to severe storms with wind gusts up to 50 mph. High near 72 degrees and Low around 48 degrees.

TUESDAY: Possible showers before 9:00 a.m. High near 57 degrees and Low near 37 degrees.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny with High near 57 degrees.
