The Democratic and Republican candidates for Secretary of State met for their first and probably only debate Friday. They covered issues ranging from driver responsibility fees to ballots for troops overseas. And they differed over whether senior citizens should have their eyesight tested more frequently than every eight years for their driver's license.
Republican candidate Ruth Johnson says no.
"I really don't believe in any age discrimination," she said. "I think if you're looking at saving lives, the highest rate of fatalities is young men between 18 and 28. That's where we have most of our fatalities."
Johnson's opponent, Democratic candidate Jocelyn Benson, says she would consider ending the mail-in license-renewal option for senior citizens.
The two candidates appeared on public television's "Off The Record."
