'Rally Goose' Released Safely Back Into The Wild

MSU COllege of Veterinary medicine

A goose who crashed into the Comerica Park scoreboard during a Detroit Tigers game Wednesday has been treated and released. Katie Cook reports.

The MSU College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Medical Center posted on their Facebook page Friday morning that Rally Goose made it back to his natural environment with nothing more than a bruise.

The bird recovered at the wildlife ward after crashing into the scoreboard at Comerica Park.

MLive reported Thursday that the bird appeared during a rain delay, and was shooed off the field by the grounds crew and players before flying into the scoreboard. Veterinarian Dr. Catherine Roach of Clinton Township was at the game, and rushed to assist the bird.

The Tigers proceeded to score five runs in the sixth inning shortly after the goose's appearance, prompting the hashtag #RallyGoose to appear on social media.

Dr. Roach threw out the first pitch at Thursday's series finale against the Angels.
