Law enforcement officers want to know who stole nearly 2-dozen phones from the lockers of Lansing Catholic High School football players while the team played Waverly High School.

It happened while the teams played Friday night.

Jerri Nesbitt with the Eaton County Sheriff's Department said 20 cell phones and car keys were taken.

They were inside of the visiting team's lockerroom at the time of the theft.

Nesbitt said none of the phones or keys have been recovered.

And no arrests have been made in this case.

Kelly Blake is interim superintendent of Waverly Community Schools. She told WKAR News the door to the visiting team's locker room was left propped open during the game.

"We didn't have enought security guards or people in place to check on that," said Blake. "[For future games] we have assigned a person to ensure that the door is shut and locked at all times."

WKAR News left messages with the Lansing Diocese for comment. But as of deadline, our call had not been returned.

The Cougars of Lansing Catholic Varsity Team defeated the Waverly Warriors by the score 48 to 7.
