Linda Uncapher (L) is hosting Fabian Heinig from Germany this year. Deb Fry (R) is YFU field director for South Central Michigan.

Youth For Understanding is an international educational exchange program for students and adults founded in Michigan. For Neighbors in Action, we speak with the local field manager, as well as a host parent and an exchange student who is here from Germany.

The best way to thrive in our increasingly multi-cultural, global society is to become immersed in other cultures. That’s the belief that drives Youth For Understanding (YFU), a non-profit educational exchange program that started in Michigan and is now in more than 50 countries.

Current State talks with Deb Fry, YFU field director for South Central Michigan, host parent Linda Uncapher, and the exchange student she’s hosting from Germany, Fabian Heinig.
