The T.B. Simon Power Plant overlooks the new solar panel carports.

MSU is turning its parking lots into a valuable energy supply.

Carports equipped with solar panel technology are undergoing installation at lots 83, 89, 91, 92 and 100. These panels are capable of providing campus with 18% of its power and will provide a strong relief on MSU's energy budget.

WKAR's Skyler Ashley spoke with Dr. Wolfgang Bauer, a professor of Physics and Astronomy, about the new panels.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
