Michigan State hockey team rips RPI 6-1 to capture GLI title

DETROIT – Brett Perlini, Dustin Gazley and Andrew Rowe each had a goal and assist to lead Michigan State to a 6-1 win over RPI on Wednesday night in the championship game of the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament at Joe Louis Arena.

Chris Forfar, Dean Chelios and Jeff Petry also scored for the Spartans (14-6-2). Drew Palmisano made 19 saves.

Patrick Cullen scored for RPI (10-10-1). Bryce Merriam stopped 7 of 9 of shots for the Engineers before being pulled after Gazley's goal with 5:32 left in the first period. Allen York stopped 18 shots.
