Michigan nonprofit tabs state senator as next CEO

By AP

LANSING, MI –

A Democratic state senator is set to become the new leader of the Michigan League for Human Services.

The nonprofit advocacy organization says Wednesday that state Sen. Gilda Jacobs will become its next president and chief executive. Jacobs will take over in January and replace Sharon Parks, who previously announced her intention to retire.

Jacobs is a lawmaker from Huntington Woods. Her second term in the state Senate expires at the end of this year, and she can't run again because of Michigan's term limits law.
