March 18 | Early Childhood Literacy Coalition Event

Storybook characters, performers, authors and storytelling are combined in a way to help kids learn to love reading at a free special event on Sunday, March 18, from 1-4 p.m. The event will take place at Hannah Community Center in East Lansing.

The interactive stage show will feature the Merry Music Maker. Music comes alive as children engage in a playful and wonderful musical experience. Performances begin at 1:30, 2:15 and 3 p.m.

The event also features additional children’s activities including a storytelling corner with Jean Bolley and Karrie Korrich and an opportunity for children to meet favorite storybook characters Clifford, Corduroy and Tacky the Penguin.

Each family will receive a free book while supplies last.

Stop by WKAR's Ready To Learn table for special handouts about how to help use public broadcasting's award-winning children's programs in a positive and productive way to enhance early childhood learing.

Following the kickoff, various Early Childhood Literacy Coalition member agencies will have events at their sites for the next two weeks. A schedule of these events is available at http://cadl.org as a printable online brochure.
