There’s a winter weather advisory in effect from 9 p.m. tonight until midnight Friday for heavy snow.
National Weather Service meteorologist Heather Orow says the worst of the snowfall is expected to be in southern-most Michigan. "We're expecting snow to start moving in after about 10 p.m. tonight, and spreading across the state," she explains. "The heavier stuff looks like its going to occur between about 3 a.m. tonight until about 7 p.m. tomorrow."
The I-94 corridor could get 12 or more inches of snow during the storm. Those along I-96 and I-69 from Grand Rapids to Lansing to Flint can expect 3 to 6 inches, perhaps more in spots.
Orow says this snow may be heavier and more slippery that we’re used to getting in recent snowfalls. While winds will be light, wind chills will be below zero. There shouldn’t be any ice accumulation.
