DETROIT – Emergency financial manager Robert Bobb says he is continuing to put together five plans to help lead the struggling Detroit Public Schools into a brighter future.
Bobb briefed a group of elected and community leaders Friday morning on his master plans for education and teaching, safety and security, facilities, parental involvement, and long-term finances for the district.
He is the featured panelist at the first 2010 session of Pancakes & Politics forum in Detroit.
The school district is faced with a $219 million budget deficit.
Earlier this week, Bobb released plans to overhaul academics in the 87,000-student district, and a proposal to tear down some schools while renovating others.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed Bobb last March to fix the district's finances.
