FBI searches rural Hillsdale County for fugitive

By AP

WHEATLAND TWP, MI –

Authorities have blocked off an area in rural Hillsdale County about 30 miles from the site of Saturday's FBI raid near Adrian to search for a fugitive.

Detroit FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold wouldn't comment Monday on who they are searching for or if it's related to weekend FBI raids.

One of the nine people charged with conspiring to kill police officers was still being sought. Joshua Matthew Stone was the only suspect not arrested in the raids.

Federal prosecutors say the suspects are tied to the Michigan-based Christian militia group Hutaree.

Berchtold said the FBI got a tip and is seeking additional information from the public.

A nearby church is being used as a police staging area. Berchtold said the search involves the FBI, state police and local law enforcement.
