'Encyclopedia Paranoiaca' mines fears and phobias for laughs

Flip-flops are a deadly footwear option, according to the 'Encyclopedia Paranoiaca.'

It may be hard to believe, but evidence suggests many otherwise benign, everyday items like flip- flops, drinking straws and neckties pose serious dangers.  Other reputable data point to the health risks involved in common activities like flossing our teeth, washing our hands and eating leafy greens.  
 

Writer Christopher Cerf discusses his book that delves into these disturbing -- but seemingly absurd -- ”dangers.” Cerf is the co-author of “Encyclopedia Paranoiaca,” which he claims “might just save your life, but probably won’t.”
