By WKAR

UNDATED – In Ingham County commissioner contests, Republicans Donald Vickers, Jennifer Smith and Vince Dragonetti were victorious along with Democrat Andy Schor.

In area House district races, in the 67th, Jeff Osterle has won the Republican nomination, defeating Jeff Hall and Tricia Opper. Osterle will face incumbent Barb Byrum in November.

In the 69th district, Meridian Township supervisor Susan McGillicuddy won over challenger Frank Lambert in the Republican primary. She'll face incumbent Democrat Mark Meadows in the general election.

In Eaton County, former Charlotte mayor Deb Shaugnessy clinched the GOP nomination for the 71st house seat. Theresa Abed won the Democratic nomination.

Republican Rick Jones easily defeated challenger Randy Brink to claim the 24th district, which covers part of Eaton County.

In the 22nd district, Republican Joe Hune will face Democratic challenger Chuck Fellows in November.

And in the 33rd district, which covers Clinton County, Brian Calley has defeated Michael Trebesh for the Republican nomination.

In other races around the state...There will be no eighth term in Congress for
Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick. The Detroit Democrat was beaten in Tuesday's primary by state Sen. Hansen Clarke of Detroit. Kilpatrick is the sixth incumbent lawmaker, and the fourth from the House, to lose this year.

Both Crystal Falls physician Dan Benishek and state Sen. Jason Allen of Alanson claimed victory in the ultra-tight race for the Republican nomination in the 1st Congressional District. But as of 4:07 this morning, the official Secretary of State election returns show Benishek with a one-vote lead over Allen. The race was closely watched to see if a candidate with substantial Tea Party backing would win. Benishek is an activist in the Tea Party movement.
