The East Lansing city council appointed Kathleen Corkin Boyle to fill a vacancy on the panel last night.

Boyle has served on the city's Housing Commission, and with the Red Cedar Community Association. She works in labor and employment law with an Okemos law firm.

Each council member had put forward two names from the 14 candidates interviewed over the weekend. The vote to choose Boyle was unanimous.

Boyle takes the council seat vacated by Donald Power, who resigned last month. She will be sworn in next Tuesday.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
