Bernero: Italian Green Manufacturer Coming to Lansing

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero says he's finalizing a deal to bring some 80 green energy jobs to the city.

He recently returned from an economic development trip to Turin, Italy. Bernero says he's reached an agreement with an unnamed company to headquarter its U.S. operations in Lansing.

"I really believe that's just the tip of the iceberg, even for that company," he says. "Because that company is a green energy company whose products are going to be in demand worldwide, I believe; definitely in this country and worldwide.  So I see that as just the beginning of that particular company."

Bernero says he's not at liberty to disclose the name of the company while negotiations continue.  The mayor says he hopes to make an official announcement before the end of the year.
