Interim MSU President John Engler has appointed Bill Beekman to serve as the university’s interim Athletic Director. Beekman is an MSU vice president and secretary to the Board of Trustees. He served as acting president for a short time after the resignation of Lou Anna Simon in the wake of the Larry Nassar scandal. That ended with the Engler appointment last week.
Now, Beekman will fill another void. Mark Hollis recently stepped down as Athletic Director.
Engler says there will be a nationwide search for an athletic director, and that no internal candidates will be considered.
