The first episode for this weekly program will be recorded on Thursday, August 15. Former Spartan, NBA star and sports announcer Greg Kelser will be the program’s premiere guest.
Seating for this event is free, but online reservations are required. Audience must arrive by 6 p.m. for check-in and seating. Taping starts at 6:30 p.m.

Current Sports TV live taping takes place in the Communication Arts & Sciences Building WKAR TV Studio F, 404 Wilson Road on the campus of Michigan State University. Parking is free (after 6 p.m.) in the Trowbridge Road parking ramp. Metered spaces are $1.25/hour (quarters only) before 6 p.m.
This debut episode of Current Sports TV will air Thursday, September 12, at 10 p.m. on WKAR-TV.
Martin also hosts Current Sportson WKAR AM/870. The radio program airs weekdays at 1 p.m. and includes interviews with those involved with a variety of sports in the mid-Michigan area and also explores current issues in the sports world.
The television version of the program will air weekly and combine interviews and discussions with a look at the events on the calendar for the upcoming weekend.
Martin has been with WKAR since April, coming to the station from WLNS-TV6 in Lansing.
Greg Kelser graduated from Michigan State University and was known as “Special K” when he played for the MSU men’s championship basketball team. Along with Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Kelser captained the Spartans to the 1979 NCAA basketball championship, defeating Larry Bird and the Indiana State Sycamores. That same year, Kelser was named both All-America 1st Team and Academic All-America 1st Team, the first in MSU’s basketball history. He would become the fourth player selected in the 1979 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons and played for six years. He has served as a television announcer and color commentator for the Pistons since 1988 and the Big Ten Conference since 1987.
