BackStage Pass at Lansing JazzFest

The WKAR production team heads to Lansing JazzFest this weekend to capture acts live onstage for the next broadcast season of BackStage Pass, the TV series featuring music made in Michigan.

BackStage Pass will be recording four acts at Lansing JazzFest, August 3 and 4, on the MessageMakers Stage:

Evidence Jazz Group
Evidence Jazz Group out of Grand Rapids features hard bop from saxophonist Michael Doyle and some of the finest players in Michigan.

John Douglas
Funk specialist, acid and Latin jazz star, and seasoned be-bop professional, John Douglas rips the trumpet high notes, caresses the low notes, and rocks the melodic scales in between.

Edye Evans Hyde & The Terry Lower Quartet
Swanky, classic jazz and upbeat blues that make you stand up and move, from West Michigan's Eyde Evans Hyde.

Tim Cunningham
Smooth, sultry, cool and funky, Tim Cunningham fills the house every time he returns to Lansing for a show in front of a hometown crowd.

In Hi-Definition
In 2012, BackStage Pass is being recorded in High Definition TV. The forthcoming episodes will fill your HDTV and online viewing experience like never before with music made in Michigan.

?Recording in Our Community - Ahead
WKAR will also be recording concert performances by Michigan artists on stage at the Michigan Mosaic Music Festival, Aug. 31-Sep. 2; and Old Town BluesFest, Sep. 21-22.

2012 Production Season So Far
The 2012 production season kicked off with four concert tapings at East Lansing Hannah Community Center on June 26 and 27. Home Again, Domestic Problems, Howlin' Diablos and Silent Lapse put on great shows, captured by WKAR cameras for the upcoming broadcast season.
