Gary Wilson is an independent journalist from Chicago who focuses on the Great Lakes and related economic and social issues.

He writes a bi-monthly column for Great Lakes Echo, serves as a contributing commentator for Detroit Public Television’s Great Lakes coverage and is a contributor to WKAR’s Current State.

Gary is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists and has completed a fellowship with the Institutes for Journalism in the Natural Resources.

Prior to engaging in environmental issues, Gary worked for more than 30 years in management positions for United Airlines. He was raised in the Downriver area of Detroit and is a life-long resident of the Great Lakes region.
