Communications Coordinator

WKAR is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing individual to serve as Communications Coordinator. Responsibilities include writing copy for print, broadcast and digital purposes, including e-newsletters, news releases, social media posts, web posts, blogs, promotional spots, station reporting, program offers, and a monthly print magazine; design and layout for print and digital; and assist at various station events, as well as oversee the photography of WKAR events. This person will be a part of the WKAR Communications and Promotions team with the opportunity to work with broadcast professionals and student interns. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills and the ability to create compelling and creative design to promote the WKAR brands. Successful candidate must be willing to work nights and/or weekends as events occur; some travel will be required.

WKAR is a division of the College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University. It includes WKAR-TV, WKAR AM and FM, WKAR.org, the Radio Reading Service, and WKAR Ready-To-Learn, and reaches more than a half-million mid-Michigan residents each week, and contributes to the educational experience of Michigan State University's 47,000-plus student body.
