Come join Mary Beth Orr of the Grand Rapids Symphony as she performs ~French Horn Folk Tales~. This is a recital that weaves the soulful and raw Folk melodies of her Appalachian Heritage with the refined passion and virtuosity of the Classical Music medium. This creates a fusion, a complete connection between two seemingly different styles into an extraordinary musically narrative experience. Both folk and classical music tell the story of the human heart, the human condition, so deeply in their own unique ways, some would even say of two different worlds. But together, when combined we realize these seemingly opposite worlds are not so far apart. WE, no matter how different we seem..... are NOT so far apart. Works performed will be a celebration of both her own traditional Appalachian origin and the classical/contemporary canon, such as, Gustav Mahler, Kerry Turner, and even pop sensation Storm Large! Guest Performers include internationally renowned Lyric Tenor William Watson, CMU collaborative artist Mina Son on piano, and Midland Symphony Concert Master Takeshi Abo on violin. Seating is limited so arrive early!
