Every so often, Cathy Zell, our Development Director, arrives and shares the news that we have a special ticket offer, courtesy of our friends at Wharton Center with whom we have a terrific partnership.
This week, we have a special offer. The first is tickets to the performance of Rain at Wharton Center. This well-known group performs Beatles songs with the costumes, make up and spot-on voices of the Fab Four.
If you are anticipating the season of baking that’s just around the corner, get a few tips and recipes from Linda Hundt, best known as “Sweetie-licious.” The local entrepreneur and owner of Sweetie-licious Bakery Café in DeWitt will share her baking secrets in a new WKAR-TV special, Sweetie-licious: A Taste of the Season.
Home For the Holidays!
The program is part of WKAR’s “Home for the Holidays” array of specials airing in December on the public television station.
Thanks to those of you who have already given to WKAR-TV's August membership campaign. We are moving toward our goal of $95,000 with almost $43,000 pledged as of Friday morning. This is a little less than half of our way to the total we'd like to reach by Sunday, and we're about two-thirds of the way through the campaign.
Do we have great specials for you this week, as our August membership campaign continues!
For those interested in information, check out "Ed Slott's Retirement Rescue" on Tuesday, August 21, at 9:30 p.m. Learn how your gift can bring you tickets to our Ed Slott meet-and-greet in October!
If you like all-star concerts with performances by such luminaries as Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, the Who, Simon and Garfunkel, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and lots more, check out Pegi and Neil Young's "Concert for the Bridge" on Sunday, August 26, at 10 p.m.
You may have noticed that WKAR's fundraising campaign began on Thursday. We're trying something new this year. Instead of having our regular 16-day campaigns four times a year, we are hoping to have those events go only eleven days.
You might say, "Don't you need the money?" and the answer is "Yes! We do!" Our goal is to do a better job of reaching out to more WKAR viewers with the opportunity to become WKAR supporters -- making WKAR and public broadcasting stronger in our community.
