Spartan Great Bob Apisa Is Headed To The Hall Of Fame

The Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame will add five more legendary Michigan State athletes into its exclusive club this fall. Bob Apisa, Joe Baum, Bob Cassleman, Kristin Haynie, and Dr. Clarence Underwood will all be recognized for their incredible feats as Spartans. Apisa joined "Current Sports" host Al Martin on the air Tuesday to talk about the accomplishment.

The Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame, located within the Lansing Center, showcases a wealth of local athletic talent. Home to memorabilia from 228 individuals and 46 teams, the Hall of Fame celebrates the world class athletic talent that Mid-Michigan has produced. WKAR’s Al Martin toured of the Hall of Fame with Executive Director and 1994 inductee Bob Every.

Matt kicks off the show with the tragedy of the Boston Marathon.  He talks about what it has done to the world of sports, and its effect on athletes.  A few Michigan State University Spartan athletes received academic honors, and Matt covers the latest on who those award-winners are.   He then wraps around to the WNBA draft, and whether women basketball athletes can spark the sport to media prominence.  Matt closes the show taking callers regarding all of the local and national sports topics.
