His name is synonymous with the sports of boxing and professional wrestling. Born and raised in Philly, Michael Buffer began his ring announcing career in 1982 and by 1984 he developed the catchphrase "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!!" which gained enormous popularity.

The 2000 MSU national championship men's basketball team was honored at halftime of Saturday's game between the Spartans and Florida Gators. Bryn Forbes had 12 points and six rebounds and fellow senior Denzel Valentine added 17 points, helping the No. 1 Spartans beat Florida 58-52, moving the team to 11-0 on the year. 

D’Mitrik Trice charts his own basketball path

The Trice family seems to be more familiar with unfamiliar paths that lead to success. Travis Trice Jr., Michigan State alum and recent New York Knicks signee, proved to his little brother, D’Mitrik, you can get to where you’re going no matter the path it entails.

D’Mitrik, or Meech as his family calls him, attended Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio to play basketball under his father, Travis Trice Sr.

Spartans Nip Owls in Season Opener

The MSU men's basketball team topped Florida Atlantic University at the Breslin Center in Friday night's season opener. This marked the 31st consecutive season opening win for the Spartans, 18-3 under head coach Tom Izzo. 

Roller hockey passes on love of the game

EAST LANSING, Mich. – It’s a truth many athletes know: the only way to advance their sport is for younger generations learn it, love it, and then carry it on.

Michigan State’s roller hockey teams pay the love of their sport forward, by annually participate in Mission’s “Hockey College” for younger players.

Since 2007, Mission has held their Hockey College program, at college roller hockey tournaments around the country. The college players help run clinics for young players.

As Michigan State’s swimming and diving teams look forward to the 2015-16 season, they see this past one as a foundation.

In 2015, the women’s team scored 65 points at the Big Ten championship, placing them in 13th. The men’s team, had slightly better results, with 82 points and a 10th place finish.

And although Michigan State produced no NCAA qualifiers in the 2015 season, Matt Gianiodis, MSU’s head swimming coach, feels 2016 holds promise.

Listen to reaction from head coaches Porter Moser and Tom Izzo after MSU's 87 to 52 win over Loyola Chicago. The Spartans rebound nicely coming off the loss to Duke earlier this week.

Branden Dawson and Marvin Clark Jr. each scored 15 for the Spartans (2-1). Travis Trice added 13 and Denzel Valentine 12, and Michigan State never trailed. Matt Costello also had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
