The Detroit Tigers move their record to 11-2 after topping the New York Yankees last night. Al talks about how this team has been able to get off to the right track and believes a "closer controversy" will ensue if Joakim Soria continues his hot play in the absence of Joe Nathan.

EAST LANSING – Zoe Morse, a junior at East Lansing High, has been in love with soccer since she was a little girl. Recognized as an All-American and representing the U.S. as part of the Women’s National Team, she’s beginning to realize her dreams of playing in the World Cup are within reach.

Snow may be on the ground, but that doesn't stop the MSU football team from getting in the gym to prepare for another college football season. Mark Dantonio and his team held winter conditioning today at the indoor practice facility. Check out footage from the session here.

HOLT - Okemos coach Jack Wallace emphatically raised his hands in the air as his quarterback, Grant Klaver, kneeled down to finish the game. Once the final whistle blew, the traveling student section rushed the field to celebrate the big win with their fellow classmates and players.

WKAR's Al Martin wraps-up MSU's Big Ten opening win over Nebraska at Spartan Stadium. The Spartans topped the Cornhuskers, 27 to 22.  Following MSU's win to open the Big Ten season, the Spartans moved up to No. 8 in both The Associated Press Poll and Amway Coaches Poll. The No. 8/8 Spartans (4-1, 1-0) will now hit the road to take on Purdue (3-3, 1-1) Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in West Lafayette, Indiana. 

WKAR's Al Martin reports from Spartan Stadium on how the MSU football team was able to get back on track, topping EMU 73 to 14. The Spartans were coming off a bye week after a crushing road loss to Oregon. The sting of that defeat is now well behind them.

Every home football Saturday here in East Lansing, thousands of people flock to the Michigan State campus to take part in a sacred ritual:  tailgating.  But the pastime takes a toll. After the celebrating, landscaping personnel at MSU repair damage to grass and trees.

Some of those personnel are calling last Saturday’s damage the worst they’ve seen.

Sexton and Holt were both undefeated in the CAAC Blue leading up to this 'Battle Royale' on October 4th. But the Big Red proved to be the better team, cruising over the Rams, 48 to 7.

The Michigan State University Spartans clinched a 21 to 6 victory over the University of South Florida in East Lansing Saturday.  The MSU offense scored only one drive in the game; the rest of the scoring was handled by the defensive squad.  Mark Bashore talks with Current Sports host Al Martin about the game, which saw three different MSU quarterbacks turn in lackluster performances.
