Washington Post Online Project Includes MSU Journalism Student

Andrew Krietz of the MSU campus newspaper the State News is one of 12 young reporters covering the election for the Washington Post.

A Michigan State University journalism student is among a dozen college reporters around the country chosen for a Washington Post internet project.

Andrew Krietz is a senior from Portage, Michigan. In the fall, he’ll become editor in chief of the MSU campus newspaper, the State News.

This summer, along with an internship at the Muskegon Chronicle and MLive.com, Krietz is working on The 12, a series of blogs on the Tumblr website.

MSU Policy Pro Expects Divisive General Election

As the country inches closer to a presidential election, the ranks of the alienated American voter appear to be growing.   A survey last week by the Pew Center finds that 38-percent of those polled label themselves ‘independent,’ not  ‘Democrat’ or ‘Republican.’  That’s the largest number since the Great Depression. 

As part of our "Election 2012" coverage, WKAR's Mark Bashore spoke with a long-time Michigan policy insider about the study.
