LANSING, Mich. -- The East Lansing Trojans and nail-biting victories go together like peanut butter and jelly. It was two weeks ago that the Trojans sealed their win over Holt with a last-minute interception. Then, on Friday night, with a playoff berth on the line, East Lansing stopped Lansing Sexton on the final play of the game to secure a 9-7 victory.

East Lansing basketball star Aazh Nye finds there’s no place like home

EAST LANSING, Mich. —Aazh Nye has moved around a lot in her brief high school career. She is just a junior, but she has yet to attend the same high school for two consecutive years. Now, however, she seems to have found a home in East Lansing.

Nye, a guard, began her high school career in East Lansing, but transferred to Alabama for her sophomore year, citing basketball as the main reason for moving.

LANSING--- Lansing Everett’s gym echoes with the sound of sneakers squeaking across the hardwood. The energy level was high, matching a fresh team, not one at the end of a grinding regular season.

Forward Trevor Manuel sweated profusely as he raced up and down the court, barking out defensive assignments and swatting shots. Manuel was working hard, under the banner of Everett’s most famous alumni, Earvin “Magic” Johnson.

Manuel competes like an athlete fighting for minutes, rather than a star player for a team that already won its conference championship.

Al Martin interviews the head coach of the Waverly girls basketball team, TJ Hawkins, after their win over Okemos in the district tournament on Monday night. 

The Grand Ledge girls basketball team relinquishes an opportunity to win the CAAC Blue title outright, falling to Holt, 62 to 48.  Grand Ledge, Holt, and East Lansing all share the conference championship and now await district play.  Catch full hilights from the Rams win right here.
