Returns to WKAR -TV Saturdays at 10 p.m. beginning September 16, 2017. 

A showcase of music made in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. Backstage Pass captures the sights and sounds of open-air festivals and in studio performances and shares insights from the artists that make the music.

Season eight features musical performances from WKAR Studio A,  2016 Lansing JazzFest and 2016 Michigan BluesFest.

Festival performances are produced in association with Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art and MessageMakers.

The BackStage Pass crew was in our community at Lansing JazzFest August 3 and 4, recording for the upcoming broadcast season of the television series featuring music made in Michigan.

The WKAR production team heads to Lansing JazzFest this weekend to capture acts live onstage for the next broadcast season of BackStage Pass, the TV series featuring music made in Michigan.

"BackStage Pass" from WKAR has aired on public broadcasting stations across the country, in six of the top ten markets, including the top two: New York and Los Angeles. Episodes have been seen in more than half of the television markets in the country, with over 5000 telecasts to-date (source: TRAC Media). "BackStage Pass" is distributed by the National Educational Television Association (NETA) free to public broadcasting stations across the country.

"BackStage Pass" from WKAR Public Media kicks off a new production season with four concert tapings at East Lansing Hannah Community Center on June 26 and 27. The featured bands will be Home Again, Domestic Problems, Howling Diablos and Silent Lapse.

Join WKAR as it reveals the line-up for the next Backstage Pass recording sessions, coming to East Lansing in June. The WKAR television series featuring music made in Michigan kicks off an all-new season of production at a brand new venue, with bands that have never been featured before by WKAR.

The third broadcast season of BackStage Pass just wrapped up, with TV featuring music made in Michigan from the Chenille Sisters, Larry McCray, Bowery, and many more great, original acts.  Those 10 shows will repeat on WKAR-TV beginning this week and continuing into the summer.

Fans are wondering: will there be a fourth season? and, how can I be in the TV audience for the next shows?  We are thrilled to announce that there WILL be a fourth season of BackStage Pass.
