With prolonged frigid temperatures, frequent snowfall, and related transportation and power emergencies, winter has hit mid-Michigan hard.
And with more than another month of the season to go, Lansing and many other municipalities are nearing the end of road salt supplies and the money to buy more.
Last week, Michigan Department of Transportation Director Kurt Steudle told MIRS News that local and state governments are being forced to lobby the state for for extra funding to continue the battle against the weather.
Bill Conklin, Director of Operations for the Ingham County Road Commission, along with Denise Donohue, Director of the County Road Association of Michigan,discuss the current status of Michigan roads.
Conklin reassures those in Michigan that there is enough salt to last our current winter season. However, Donohue is more concerned with the county allocating funds for the rest of the year as a result of the harsh weather.
