Whitmer out of AG race

By Rick Pluta, MPRN

LANSING, MI –

State Senator Gretchen Whitmer has pulled out of the race for Michigan attorney general.

Whitmer was considered by many Democrats to be a near shoo-in to win the nomination at the party's convention this coming summer. She had also raised a respectable $200,000 in campaign funds.

But Whitmer says she found the rigors of a statewide race were taking too much time away from her six- and seven-year-old daughters. Whitmer says she will instead seek re-election to her state Senate seat.
