Governor Rick Snyder spent the last day before Election Day campaigning for Proposal One.

Proposal One would increase the state sales tax by a penny on the dollar. That would help generate almost $2 billion to fix roads without taking money from schools or local governments.
Governor Snyder says it’s never easy to ask voters to raise their taxes.
“But it’s for a cause that we all know that we need to do, which is our roads, and we know that this is a lower cost solution than waiting, and a better solution,” he says.
Opponents say there are better ways to pay for road repairs, and the governor and the Legislature should be forced to go back and try again.
