Utah Duck Hunter Is Shot By His Dog

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep. Let's modify an old saying. Guns don't shoot people; pets shoot people. A man was duck hunting in Box Elder County, Utah. He climbed out of a boat to move decoys, leaving his 12-gauge shotgun behind with his dog - which stepped on the shotgun. The hunter received 27 pellets of birdshot in the rear.

Thanks to the waders he was wearing, he was not seriously injured, though he may prefer to stand up for awhile. You're listening to MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
