Traverse City Gears Up for Cherry Festival

Thousands of people from across the country and even around the world flock to Traverse City each July to savor the National Cherry Festival.

In two weeks, one of Michigan’s most renowned summer events begins.  The 90th annual National Cherry Festivalin Traverse City gets started Friday, July 1 and runs for eight days. 

Organizers say the food, parades, live music, races, fireworks and other events draw a total of around 500,000 people to Traverse City.

We talk with Trevor Tkach, a Traverse City native and executive director of the National Cherry Festival.
