Tigers All-Stars: Verlander, Jackson, Granderson

By AP

MINNEAPOLIS – MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Detroit Tigers starting pitchers Edwin Jackson and Justin Verlander and center fielder Curtis Granderson have been selected for the All-Star game.

The rosters were revealed on Sunday afternoon. Third baseman Brandon Inge is one of five finalists for the last spot on the American League team, to be selected via internet voting.

Jackson has received little offensive support in his first season with the Tigers - hence his 6-4 record - but his 2.59 ERA is second in the league. This is his first All-Star honor. Verlander leads the AL with 130 strikeouts and will go to the All-Star game for a second time.

Granderson and Inge have never been there before.

Last year, third baseman Carlos Guillen was the only Detroit player picked for the midsummer classic.
