For many students, the sight of their school bus rolling into their neighborhood each morning conjures up a flurry of emotions, and not all of them are positive. But a new project being unveiled today in Lansing hopes to re-make the image of the bus as a key part of the educational experience. This bus is a much more modern, high-tech creation. In fact, it’s called the Tech Transport Bus.At the heart of this rolling science laboratory is a control center that simulates a space launch and a full-scale mission that tests a gamer’s decision making and problem solving skills.

Current State's Kevin Lavery talks with Kirk Riley, executive director of the Information Technology Empowerment Center, or ITEC, and Sean Huberty, who teaches digital gaming and energy management at Lansing Community College.

Kevin Lavery served as a general assignment reporter and occasional local host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered before retiring in 2023.
