Aug 30, 2013

Can you believe that it is almost September and Labor Day weekend is here? The summer has flown by, leaving behind plenty of good memories -- and great anticipation for the fall.

Here at WKAR, the new fall season is something we anticipate for months! We see previews, have great discussions about what programs we know you will want to see and get our schedules in order. Then we're ready to "Expand Your World" with a season we think you'll love.

This year we are featuring our fall preview in three half-hour television specials airing on consecutive evenings, September 3, 4 and 5 at 9 p.m.

Each special will focus on a different aspect of WKAR Radio and TV -- arts and culture, documentaries and community and news, sports and family shows.

Gary Reid and I will be your hosts for these three programs that will include clips from many of our highly anticipated favorites. You'll hear about the terrific new British drama series, Last Tango in Halifax and two new Britcoms that will begin in September, The Cafe and Doc Martin.

We'll welcome WKAR's Al Martin and Mark Bashore and tell you about some exciting Frontline specials, a delightful new show for your kids and what's on the horizon for Great Performances, NOVA and even two winter favorites, BackStage Pass and Downton Abbey. We'll also talk about our local shows, including Current Sports on WKAR-TV and QuizBusters, which will not only have another "local personality" special but celebrate 25 years as well.

We're not leaving WKAR Radio out! Look for news on music and news programs on 90.5 and AM/870 as well.

I hope I haven't let too much of the cat out of the bag! But really, you must tune in next week and check it out -- we have a lot of fun in store for you!
