Susi's Station Notes: On the Road -- with Exciting News!
What a week!
I met Daniel Tiger and I got the scoop on when Downton Abbey will return to PBS with its new season!
I've been at the PBS annual meeting, a combination of valuable learning sessions and lots of previews of upcoming programs. Perhaps one of the things that people want most to know is when Downton Abbey returns. You can find it on WKAR beginning Sunday, January 5, for eight weeks. And yes, we will have a sneak preview just for fans.
There will be more episodes of Call the Midwife, along with a new British drama series that we'll share more about later. Half the Sky will return with a new special focusing on trafficking in the U.S. and South America. Mystery! is this summer, with the final season of Inspector Lewis, a new interpretation of Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes and new episodes of Endeavor. And Nature will feature a series on “Big Cats” in July.
Speaking of cats, PBS hasn't forgotten kids, either. Peg+Cat looks really cute and Thomas and Friends will be here for little fans of that big blue train! Sesame Street will bring a new character, Mando, to the screen to focus on Spanish.
We're also getting a look-ahead at shows you already know and love like Nova, Frontline and Great Performances.
And, we're getting the scoop on things related to community engagement and education, including some exciting new changes in PBS LearningMedia. We also heard from PBS President Paula Kerger, who is always inspiring as she leads us forward in the media landscape.
We always say there's "Lots to Like" at WKAR -- and I can guarantee that you'll find it this fall!
I'll be home in time for the East Lansing Art Festival this weekend, so look for me on Sunday from 2-5 at the main festival music stage! Daniel Tiger will be there, too -- and remember, if you see our Street Team, let them take your photo and give them a thumbs up for WKAR!
