Susi's Station Notes: In Our Community!
It's hard to believe we are into August and the summer days are counting down. I guess it’s true that time flies when you’re having fun – and we’ve definitely been having fun at all the summer festivals!
We spent last weekend at the Lansing JazzFest recording performances for BackStage Pass. The Old Town setting was the perfect outdoor venue and we got some great footage of the bands and the huge crowds that turned out to support them. The amazing crew of staff and students worked tirelessly in the heat to make sure this season’s shows are our best ever. I also have to give a shout-out to Peep, the giant chick from Peep and the Big Wide World. He hung out and entertained the kids and didn’t make a “peep” about the heat! (Be sure to check out our flickr photo albums. (Peep and BackStage Pass) You might find yourself in there -- and if you do, feel free to share the link with your friends!
As we head into this weekend, we celebrate the 11th annual Great Lakes Folk Festival. Our friends at the MSU Museum sponsor this free event and WKAR will be emceeing the dance stage. Aside from the music and dancing, enjoy cultural activities, a marketplace and more. We hope you’ll head to downtown East Lansing and kick up your heels with us.
With so much still to look forward to this summer, I feel lucky to live in a community that supports music and the arts with such passion. See you this weekend!
