Thanks to all who came out last night to hear the remarkable Mary Ellen Sheets share her story at our Evening at WKAR featuring Makers: Women Who Make America.
We had a terrific group and lively discussion. There is something energetic and motivating to hear about these amazing women who are doing good — in the world and in our own community.
There are a lot of them right here in mid-Michigan and that's why I'm pleased to announce our Michigan Makers project. Over the next few months I'll be interviewing some of the area's top women. You may well know some of their names, like MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon. But I also want to introduce you to some who are less well-known but doing remarkable work.
You probably have some ideas as well, so let me know. We're taking nominations here at WKAR — just submit an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and explain who your suggestion is and why you think she is a Michigan Maker!
