You may have noticed the new "Family" tab on our web page. We are looking to increase the content we have here on WKAR that is related to families and education.

Check out the articles written for us by the professionals at MSU Extension. They offer material with great links for Michigan's military families, parenting information and a delightful look at how it isn't so bad when your messy child is a scientist!

We're ramping up our Kids' Club, too -- with lots of new benefits, including a special event at Fenner Arboretum in April with Curious George, a private Daniel Tiger meet-and-greet in May, plus special treats and surprises. Of course, children's names are still read on their birthdays.  If your child is not a member of the Kids' Club, find out more details by sending an email to betsy@wkar.org

I recently returned from Washington, DC. PBS invited Kendon Elementary teacher Denise Walker and me to the first Teacher Core event, where we were privileged to meet educators from around the country and learn new strategies to tell our communities about the remarkable resources from PBS Learning Media.

If you haven't checked out this site for educators yet -- don't wait another minute. There are thousands of digital lesson plans and support materials available for free. Denise will be taking this information to regional schools to pass the word. We're lucky to have her on our side!
