Eleven universities and school districts will remain at risk of losing their authority to authorize new charter academies.

The state schools superintendent says he won’t move soon to strip 11 universities and school districts of their power to authorize new charter schools. But Bill DiSessa of the state Department of Education says they’re not coming off the list, either.
“They’re still at risk,” he says. “There’s no change in their status.”
DiSessa says the department wants to see what Governor Rick Snyder offers up next year as possible school reforms. The 11 universities and school districts were put on the list because their charter schools showed problems with academic performance or transparency in their business operations.
